Two teenagers, 14 and 16 years old, sneaked into a man’s house in Rochester and ordered the victim to tell the police that they were white before setting him on fire.
A casual passer-by saw the smoke and rushed inside. He noticed the flaming body and managed to put out the fire. The man, whose name has not been disclosed, was hospitalized with third degree burns and died 4 days later.
“Investigators said the man, whose name has not been released, was sitting in a chair in his apartment on Lyell Avenue near Murray Street on Friday. According to officers, the two teenagers — ages 14 and 16 — sprayed the man with an ignitable fluid, then set him on fire.”
“Both teenagers were charged with first-degree assault,” the report added. “The 16-year-old is charged second-degree attempted arson, while the 14-year-old was charged with second-degree arson.”
The national media ignored the incident, which again portrayed racial minorities in a bad light.
Rochester journalist and radio host Bob Lonsberry drew attention to the double standards of liberal officials and the media.
The Gates Police Department revealed the identities of both teenagers, and also revealed that both suspects have a criminal background.
14-year-old Adriel Riley Junior was charged with robbery and stealing a car. The second suspect was identified as 16-year-old Zayvion Perry.
"Under New York State law, as the result of the Raise the Age legislation, 16-year-old Zayvion Perry will be prosecuted as an Adolescent Offender. Due to the nature of the allegations, he will likely remain in the Youth Part of Superior Court. 14-year-old Adriel Riley Jr. will be prosecuted as a Juvenile Offender. His matter will remain in Youth Part. Youth Part is a criminal court where Adolescent Offenders and Juvenile Offenders remain subject to criminal liability as adults. Neither defendant will be transferred to Family Court at this time," the Monroe County District Attorney’s office wrote in an email.
