Three Manchester women were arrested over the weekend after allegedly assaulting a Macy’s employee and trying to run off with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, Salem police said.

Lay Rosa Cruz, 26, Edmary De Thomas Cruz, 20, and Siul Rosa Cruz, 27, were arrested on charges of robbery, riot, willful concealment, theft over $1,500, theft detection device remover, and organized retail crime enterprise. All three women were processed and released on cash bail and are awaiting arraignment in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Salem police responded to the parking lot of the Macy’s store at The Mall at Rockingham Park about 5:54 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a fight in progress. Officers reported finding three women who had been caught shoplifting by a store employee, Salem police said.

The three women allegedly attacked a loss prevention employee after they were confronted while attempting to run off with over $3,000 in stolen goods, police said.

The employee, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Salem police say additional stores were targeted by the three women and additional charges are likely.
