Are the Russians shooting their own troops for cowardice?

I heard someone in the UK saying that the Russians are special units along with their own troops and these units shoot their own troops if they retreat.
This might be British propaganda. It might be Ukrainian propaganda.
I do know that this DID HAPPEN in WW2. In WW2 there were units with machine guns whose task it was to shoot troops who retreated. That did happen.
But whether it’s happening now I’m not sure. It could be propaganda.
If anyone ever gets accurate info on this I’d be interested.
