The Crimean War of the 1850s: When Britain & France drove Russia back!!

[Before this modern Ukraine War, Britain and France teamed up with the Ottoman Empire to drive Russia back. So what we're really seeing now is a rerun of the Crimean War of the 1850s. The British even fought on the Crimean peninsula. The British and French navies sailed into the Black sea and fought the Russians there. The Russians called it quits when the Austrians were about to join the war against them. I had never really looked closely at this conflict nor the reasons why. Below is a summary of it. So it shows that Britain and France pushed the Russians backwards in that very same area. Of course, I must tell you, the Germans in WW2 moved much much deeper into Russia. Stalingrad, which is now Volograd, is much further to the East than Ukraine or Crimea is. When I look at what the British and Americans want to do now, it looks to me like a total rerun of the Crimean War.  I'm telling you, in this Ukraine war NOW, the British and Americans want to drive Russia out of Crimea AGAIN!!! Crimean War, (October 1853–February 1856)War fought mainly in the Crimea between the Russians and an alliance consisting of the Ottoman empire, Britain, France, and Sardinia-Piedmont. It arose from the conflict of great powers in the Middle East and was more directly caused by Russian demands to exercise protection over the Orthodox subjects of the Ottoman sultan. The war was managed and commanded poorly by both sides. Battles were fought at the Alma River, Balaklava, and Inkerman, before the besieged Sevastopol was taken by the allies. Disease accounted for many of the approximately 250,000 men lost by each side. After Austria threatened to join the allies, Russia accepted preliminary peace terms, which were formalized at the Congress of Paris. The war did not settle the relations of the powers in Eastern Europe, but it did alert Alexander II to the need to modernize Russia.
